My apologies if this has been asked before
During my research, the idea of having a family reunion of all us cousins from my great grandfather on my father's side came up. I started using current online phone directories in addition to the directory listings in Ancestry search results, of the areas where I knew great aunts and uncles lived who had our family names to put together a list of possible family members.
I'd like to get some opinions on whether or not it is OK to contact these individuals, who may be distant cousins, via mail to find out if they are indeed family. I'd also be interested in knowing the results of such a method if anyone has done so in addition as to how to approach writing such a letter. Thanks Richard
