Hello,
I'm having a terrible time locating my GGrandfather Solomon or Soloman Davis. So I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to help me look him up in the Census so I can see if it's him or not.
I'm looking for Soloman Davis born about 1854, in the New York, New York 1860 Federal Census. Should be the only one spelled Soloman and the only one listed.


Also looking for Soloman Davis born about 1841 in the New York, NY 1870 Federal Census. Again the only one listed in that census in that area and spelled Soloman.

I know the birth dates are different but I'm kind of going with a process of elimination. Soloman or Solomon Davis was a Sea Captain. In 1900 Kings Co. Census he lists his birth date as Dec. 1852 or 1853. It also shows him as being born in Massachusetts. I "think" I found him in 1880 but it says he was born in 1842 Massachusetts. In other census after 1900 his wife Mary A. is a widow. In the positon where the enumerators ask where the children's father was born it states either New York or Boston Massachusetts.

I've seached birth records for Massachusetts for both time periods and there is no one matching.

I know Solomon/Soloman married Mary A. Carson in 1884 in NY. Their first born child William was born in 1885/1886 in Kings Co. NY.

Any help appreciated. I'd be VERY grateful.
