Hello, I am seeking any info on any Bates in Huntsville or Madison county. I have listed other names also as all these people as they are major brick walls, Bates expecially & the parents or siblins of Frank & Cora lee Fulmer Mathis.
My mothers father was named Charles {Charley} Edward Bates born in July 1900, I think Tennessee, died 28 Jan 1972 Heard County Georgia
His 1st marriage was to Alva { Alvie} Mae Mathis. With her he had 3
children, Lois Earline Bates Cosper Vaughn, Charles Alvin Bates {
known as Buddy] & Bobby Rance Bates. I know these children were born in
Troup county, LaGrange Ga. Charlie married Alva Mae [Alvie] Mathis B:23 Jul 1909
Huntsville, Alabama. D: 23 Jan 1994 Troup county Georgia. Her parents were
Francis [Frank] Marion Mathis & Cora Lee Fulmer B: 11 Jun 1891 Coffee county
Tennessee D:21 Feb 1959 LaGrange, Troup county Georgia [not positive on
her last name but that is what I was told, found this Matthews, Frank Fullmore, Cora Lee 01 Aug1908 Vol. 33 p. 463 MADISON CO., ALABAMA MARRIAGE LICENSES 1905 - 1909 ]. Frank & Cora Lee had the following children: Alva Mae, David Leon, Sallie, Merlin O'neil, & Samuel Lee (Sam)he was born in Reeltown, Macon county, Alabama.
I also know he had a 2nd wife & had
children with her also. He had a brother Ollie whom I think married a Lois Sales on 19 Jun 1926 . Sister's named Ethel whom I believe married Dutch { may be a nickname} Elderman. I know when Charlie became like a baby & needed constant care is when my mother was found to take care of him. There's a cousin Roy Bates I remember hearing of & a Nolan Bates who married a Dorthy {Dot}, Then a Lillian. I know he lived in Huntsville in the1960's & 70's. I believe he was here in the 1910's & after. I know nothing else & My mom has passed away, there isn't anyone to ask. All help is needed & this brickwall might start to crumble.
