I just found a Robert Higgins that died in Jan 1981 Albuquerque, Bernalilo, NM
...born Dec 9, 1911. (this fits the birth date I have for me)

Robert could be a cousin to Elsie M. (the obit you sent me)

Would it be possible for an obit lookup for Robert?

She is survived by her daughters, Jo Boling of Bosque Farms, NM and Sue Mendez of Edgewood, NM; son, Garry Hughes of Tacoma, WA; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2002, 2:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with Pastor Mike Shaffer officiating. I have been researching the Westfall family...at this time Clyde R. Westfall that had a daughter Elsie that married a J. W. Hughes. Per Elsie's brother's (Earl) it said she was living in Alburque in 1978.
I just found an Elsie M. Hughes d) Dec 9, 2002 and a John W. Hughes (d. 1987)in the Sunset Memorial Park...both Section 19, #15.
Can someone please direct me to the best place to find an obit for both Elsie and John W. Hughes?

New Mexico Orphanage

My GGrandmother was born 1915 in Melrose NM. Her parents died in Boise Idaho in 1918 during the flu epidemic. After that, she stayed with family for a little while in NM. Then they put her in an orphanage. I am looking for any information on any orphanages in and around the Clovis area. I don't know where she was put and I have no idea where to start looking. Can anyone help me?

About April 1900, and a Eustaquio, Estanford, or Stanford Bn. 22 August 1903 I believe they were the children of Juan Archibeque and Sophia Garcia.

DESMOND FUNERAL THURSDAY

Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Ballard Chapel for Robert F. Desmond, 68, who died suddenly last Saturday in Silverton, Ore., while on vacation.

MR. Desmond, father of Rex and Don Desmond of this city, had lived in Roswell for the past ten years since his retirement from Cities Oil Services Company.

The Rev. Fr. Charles R. Davies of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will officiate at the service. Special selections will be sung by Jack Deason accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Dorothy Herring.

Interment will be at South Park Cemetery. Among pallbearers are Weldon Day, Jack Townsend, R. C. Hyatt, A. C. Cooper, Ben Adams and Bob Conlery.

DESMOND SERVICES PENDING

The body of Robert Franklin Desmond, 68, is in the care of Ballard Funeral Home today pending completion of funeral arrangements. Mr. Desmond, who made his home in Roswell at 809 N. Lea, died Saturday evening in Silverton, Ore., while on vacation.

A native of Roff, Okla., where he was born May 4, 1897, Mr. Desmond was the son of Louis and Margaret Wells Desmond. He attended high school in Rockport, Tex., and married the former Edith Irene Parman in Shawnee, Okla., Oct. 4, 1914.

Mr. Desmond worked as shift foreman for Cities Service Oil Co. for 17 years before he retired and moved to Roswell in 1955. He had been working at Desmond Ford Co. since that time.

The elder Desmond had been in ill health for the past two years.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Tex and Don Desmond, both of Roswell; three brothers, Sam Desmond of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Jack Desmond of Joplin, Mo., Warren Desmond of Muskogee, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

Has anyone sent you the obituary or were you able to find it on your own? The Albuquerque/Corrales area is mostly in the Albuquerque Journal newspaper and they mostly run dry death notices for most people that don't pay extra at the time. But if you haven't had a response yet, I can see what I can find for you.

PUTMAN -- Carolyn E. Putman, passed away on January 29, 2004. Carolyn was born in Peoria, Illinois on August 25, 1929. She had recently received her membership status in the DAR. Carolyn was an avid bridge player, loved traveling, and adored her grandchildren. She had a zest for life, and a love for laughter. She was a resident of Rio Rancho, NM and long time resident of Peoria, Illinois and was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Peoria, Ill. Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Nuell, her precious daughter, Patricia Jones, and brother, H. Robert Wulff. I am looking for:
1)Obituary info on John Herbert Winters b.1896 d.06 Dec 1960 (buried in Tatum Cemetery beside wife). However, she is left off of the index, though I have her obit.
2)Obits on both: Emitt Hopkins b.1904 d.03 Apr 1981 NM in Carlsbad or Lovington; wife Fonnie (Noseff) Hopkins b.1912 d.11 Dec 1988 NM Albuquerque or Alameda, or Lea County? They are buried Lovington Cemetery.
3)Obits & Place of burial on both: Cristo Noseff b.Dec 1883 Greece d. Oct 1967 NM in Hobbs? supposedly buried in Hobbs; wife Martha (Drew) Noseff b.1887 d.1944 Gould, Harmon, OK--she may be buried in Hobbs too?
