I can trace a lot of my ancestry through the usual routes. However, it comes to a stop on my dad's side at him.
He was born in 1942, after his mum had a brief fling. Obviously she lived with the 'shame' of this and never told him the name of his father. My mum seems to remember her giving him a piece of paper with a name on, but the name she told me turns no results anywhere for the surname.
I did ask my nan when I was younger, trying to do a family tree for school, but she would say no more than "he was Scotch (SIC), it was one of those things that happened in the war".
The only other in formation I would know was that he was probably stationed in Leicester at the time, where she lived.
I've tried researching Scottish soldiers in World War II but records are a bit vague with having a name to search for. If I could view a list somewhere I might be able to see a similar name.
It's James Robert Ordem by the way.
