I had the same thing, mother-in-law had on her dc, her husband's SSA # with a "D" after it. According to my sister-in-law, their mother never worked so never got a SSA number while their father was alive. He had was recieving SSA retirement income and when he passed away the SSA issued her widow's benefits. She had to fill out her own SSA application to recieve them and was given her husband SSA # with a "D" after it. So your gg-aunt should have her own application on file as it is probably the same situation.
