I much appreciate the translations, and I don’t think there has been any delay.
Using the Google German to English translator, the translator engine returned “quarter” in English for the German “viertel.” Having grown up in North Dakota among farmers who homesteaded, I was well acquainted with the word quarter (160 acres) when referencing land. Thus, I think my relative Balthzar Fleck was saying that he homesteaded 160 acres of land and bought another 160 acres.
I’m starting to get to the end of the letters. And, as I mentioned at the beginning of this thread, some of the letters are blurry. If any are too bad just let me know. The following letter is from the May 9, 1913 issue of the Nord-Dakota Herold.
