Surnames: Brown, Pinchum
Hello all, in looking for a name change in a county in VA between 1880 and 1910,where would the best place to look be? I've checked the library of VA's site for microfilm (http://www.lva.virginia.gov/public/local/results_all.asp?Cou...) but not sure which of the sections it would be in.
That and the family seemed to use both surnames interchangeably at times. One of their children was born in 1880 with the last name Pinchum on the birth record, which they are all listed as in the 1910 except the grandchildren who are listed with Brown. But in 1900 they are all listed as Brown. And in trying to trace some of their other children who didn't live with them in 1900 and beyond, they used the last name Brown. I'm just trying to possibly understand why the the name change happened.
