It is safe to download the program, and installation is quite straightforward. There is somewhere in the registration process that asks which languages you are able to work with.

After you get ready to start, when you have an opportunity to download a batch to index, there are still some options. You can work on the ones that have been chosen as priorities, or you can view a list of all batches and choose and Italian batch from that list.

Welcome to indexing!

Hi All
I am in the process of creating a photo book honoring those who died young between 1896 - 1974. The book will contain photos and a short story about the person.
I am a published author and came up with this idea when I found a letter from a 17 yr old girl who wrote "I am not afraid of dying I am afraid of being forgotten" she died to tuberculosis a month later.
I thought it would be a good idea to publish this in their honor.
If anyone has ancestors that fit into this category I would love to hear from you, my email is sjgando@bigpond.com .

Dear Family History Researchers,

I am a doctoral student at the College of Information Science and Technology, Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pa., and am conducting research to learn more about how to support information sharing among family history researchers and how archives, historical societies, and other memory institutions can better support collaboration among users and producers of historic records. This is my dissertation research, and my research is not profit-oriented!

I am looking for individuals to participate in my study. Specifically, I am looking for anyone who has contributed information or images to any family history website and is 18 years or older.

What I would like you to do: participate in a phone interview that will last from 30 to 60 minutes, depending what you wish to share.

What you get: helping to advance our knowledge of the ways family history researchers are using web technologies for research and collaboration.

If you are interested in participating or want further information, please contact:

Heather Willever-Farr
hlw29@drexel.edu

You can read more about my research at http://www.heatherwilleverfarr.com

Thank you,
Heather Willever-Farr, MA
College of Information Science and Technology
Drexel University
Philadelphia, PA
Interviews About Genealogical Research

Hello everyone!

I am writing my Masters dissertation on the search for genealogical information in the archive. Essentially, I will be producing some ethnographic work based upon interviews and experiences with amateur and professional genealogical researchers. I am framing it against the expectations versus the realities of archival research under the influence of popular cultural phenomena such as Who Do You Think You Are?

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in assisting me with this project by participating in a short interview via e-mail or Ancestry messanger. I would be asking you 3-4 questions about your experiences with genealogical research, using archival materials, and sources like Ancestry.

Please let me know if you are interested. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Kathryn Townsend

I've just seen that after a long closure, the website is back. Http://raogk.wikia.com/wiki/Random_Acts_of_Genealogical_Kind... . It has all the volunteers on but the email addresses have been lost so currently very few are linked up. If you ever volunteered, or have had contact with somebody else who did, get in touch with them so they can relink your email address up again.

So it is very much a work in progress - I noticed there are no links to the England page yet and even when you find it through search, the first page doesn't load but it's back, take a look!

Jack
