The Original Six ~ Reinghau to Camden Park:
Celebrating 170 years since 6 German Vinedressers with their families
arrived on the 'Kinnear'
1838-2008
In 1838 six German vinedressers - Casper Flick, Friedrich Seckold, Georg Gerhard, Johann Justus, Johann Stein, and Johann Wenz together with their families arrived in Australia, the first group of German vinedressers to be brought to Australia by the Macarthur's of Camden Park, NSW. They set the precedence for 100’s of German immigrants to be brought to NSW in later years.
April 23rd 2008 will be the 170th Anniversary of their arrival and descendants of these 6 vinedressers will stand together as their ancestors did 170 years beforehand during the weekend of 26th-27th April 2008. A celebration is being planned to honour the lifestyle change these Germans underwent as a result of leaving their native Germany for an English speaking country still in it’s infancy and to acknowledge the history they made by being the very first German vinedressers to the state of NSW.
