The 2nd Annual Jackson Reunion for the descendants of Abraham and Melissa Hargrave (sp?) Jackson(Crawford County) will be held June 7-8,2008 at Brushy School, Sallisaw,Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. Doors will open at 9 am on Saturday and dinner at 12 noon.

Attendees are asked to bring a potluck dish(meat will be provided) and their drink, lawn chair, family photos & memorabilia, family tree sheets, musical instrument for a jam session, and an item for the raffle or auction. Plates, cups and eating utensils will be provided.

The annual Homecoming at the Palestine Church of Christ will be held June 24,2007 with services beginning at 10:30. Ancestors will be available from all of the above mention names and many, many more There will be potluck dinner on the grounds. This tradition has been ongoing for many years with past preachers being Cecil Wilson, Bert Shaver and Peter Shaver.

2005 Snapp Reunion In Arkansas

The dates are July 8, 9 & 10th in Batesville, AR. I will send more information about the Arkansas reunion as it is available. We will mostly be touring cemeteries and maybe a few pieces of properties. You will also get to meet a lot of Snapps that live in the area.

One of the Snapp brothers that came to Missouri in 1839 was Madison Charles Snapp. He and most of his family moved to Arkansas during the Civil War. Most of the Snapps in Batesville are descended through two of Madison's sons, Andrew Rader Snapp and Charles Franklin Snapp. Madison is buried in Polk County, MO but his wife, Mary, is buried in Batesville

FYI . . . There is an annual reunion for Shackelford family members at Elkins, Arkansas in the community center the fourth Saturday in September each year. If you are Shackelford related you are invited to join us and experience the fun and excitement that we share. Elkins is located southeast of Fayetteville about ten miles on Arkansas Hwy 16. We also meet the first Sunday of each July at Mount Brannon Cemetery for a family decoration event. The land at Mt. Brannon was donated by our family for a cemetery and church. There are many family members buried there and lots of geneological information to be shared. Come and enjoy our family fellowship and the beautiful Boston Mountains of Arkansas.
