I am a direct descendant of the Griffis family (SC, GA then Bradford Co. Florida). Amos Griffis was ancestor (married to Emma Etta Raulerson).
I have to inform you that although the Griffis family lived near Germans/Dutch families, the Griffis are from England and Wales, as are the Hutto families. I have traced both those lines back to Westmoreland and Cumberland region of England and Wales to the year 1012AD!! The Griffis families were most notable in their even earlier origin in Wales, they have a Crest from that country (before it was conquered and became part of the British Empire over 800 years ago). Griffis and Hutto familes are NOT German, please correct - it is a serious matter for a Welsh or Englishman to have his descendants think he/she is german...wrong culture, and wrong language.
Also, on your #52. for Edna Bradley (my grandmother) who married George Milligan Strickland, please add for the children in addition to the daughter,Marian, that you note.....my father, George Milligan Strickland, Jr., Audrey and Barbara. Now you have all the siblings...all still living.
Thank you.

Are there any Hunt's out there of African-American heritage that are having a reunion this year or in the near future? I have been trying to find my siblings, if he had any additional children other than me, Cora, and my two brothers, Freeman, Jr., and William that were born to my father, Freeman or his siblings, Willie, Fred, James, Matthew, Josephine and Cora. I believe they lived most of their lives in southern Florida around Hollywood, Hallandale and Vero Beach. They also may have moved around to several different states, I'm not sure. I also have information posted on several message boards that anyone that has any info can take a look at. If you have any news for me, please send an email to dcmonroe@verizon.net. Thank you.

Mary,

Thanks for the info
My grandmother was Bertha Eugenia Sutton who married Thomas Coleman.

Grandma had brothers Bascom (wife Molly), Monroe and at least 1 sister that I can remember named Pearl. I can't remember the others.

I always thought Rachel was my grandmothers mother but I'm not sure if Rachel was married to someone named Grimes. I do know we're related to Jesse Keen somehow and always thought it was thru my great-grandmother, Rachel.

Thanks
Laurinda

Connie probably knows for sure, but I'll chime in with what I have in my records. I show that Rachael/Rachel Keen was born 16 Jul 1863 and married Perry Grimes, born 1867. I also have that one of their children was named Mattie, who was born 15 July 1886 and died 6 Nov 1974.

I don't have source records for this, so don't swear by it!

Hope this help, though.

Mary

Hi
My name is Linda Caulder Smith. I have also been researching the "Caulder" family for approximately 10-plus years.
I am from North Carolina, my line of Caulder's came from South Carolina, also a decendent of Moses and Peter Caulder. I DID not know this until---last year 2007 I convinced my dad "Robert Caulder" to do a DNA test bacause I felt I was up against a wall and was going around in circles with the Caulder research. Well the DNA came back that he was a direct match to a Dr. Jerry Caulder, from Missouri---boy was I surprised. I only thought I was suppose to look in North and South Carolina, never dreaming it would take me out to Arkansas and Missouri. We-as children were always told we had Indian blood----never a mention of Black blood. Well this DNA proved that. Early census records could only show--White-Black-Mulatto of Free peopleo of color. Because anyone of Indian decendent was though very low of----thanks to President Andrew Jackson, he was instrumental in starting to take all land away from the Indians. I hope I have answered some of your questions. Also with my research I have been to the Washington, DC archives-twice looking/researching the Caulder family. Could we share information?
Linda Caulder Smith
RALEY REUNION--EBRO, FLORIDA--6/17/2006

Hello Raley Cousins! Just wanted to let everyone know that our reunion in Ebro, Florida was a HUGE success, even though we had only about 60 people there.

Four of Benjamin M. Raley's (1818-GA.--1895-FL) children (Amy, Laura Rebecca, Sarah, and Jamesy David) were represented. And, four of Wilson Lumpkin Raley's (Benjamin's brother) descendants also came. I had never met any of these people face-to-face, except for one who lives in the Florida city where I live, and who I met within the last two weeks. One of my new-found cousins is an 88-year-old woman from Panama City, Florida. She got the award for the oldest person in attendance. Another cousin came from Idaho to Florida and got the award for traveling the greatest distance. And, another cousin came from Arkansas. There were five elderly women there who seemed to thoroughly enjoy swapping stories and 'catching up.'

I hope the Texas Raley reunion was as great a success as the one in Florida. And, I encourage everyone to plan your own Raley reunion. I promise you that it is worth all the work that goes into it.

I'll use this opportunity to remind all Raley males to consider participating in the Raley DNA project. See Richard Raley's earlier posts.

I want to say THANK YOU for the responses to the message I left on the board just this week concerning the location of Wanda Singletary.
I feel very blessed that we found her because of this message board...but it with GREAT SORROW we found out she had died 3 or 4 years ago. I was given the phone number to her ex-brother-in-law in California.
If anyone should know how to contact her sister Kathleen Patricia Singletary WItt (has a different last name now due to remarrying). She lives somewhere in Missouri. Or if you could help me locate Wanda's daughter Robin Trexler (is her maiden name)...lives in missouri also.
Again, from the BOTTOM OF MY HEART THANK YOU FOR HAVING SUCH A WONDERFUL MESSAGE BOARD.
Joyce Lassiter
Edenton NC
I'm hoping someone that reads this will know how I can contact this woman. My name is Joyce Lassiter. I live in Edenton NC. I am trying to help a couple friends find Wanda Singletary (her maiden name). Wanda lived in Edenton in the late 50s. Her father is Jimmie Byrd Singletary. Mother is Katherine Patricia Vajadeli (or Bajadeli) Singletary. Her mother is from Hawaii. Her father is from Florida. She had a baby brother that was born and died while they lived in Edenton. He was burried in Bradenton Florida. Wanda has a sister Cathy (spelled with a C or K). It has been over 50 years since she lived in Edenton but it is important that Wanda know that she has 2 childhood friends (Dolly Wright and Ellen Basnight) looking for her so they can be reunited. Wanda's father was a marine when they lived in Edenton and they moved to California in the late 50s. If anyone knows how I can contact her, please let me know. I can be reached at joycejordanlassiter@yahoo.com or searchforwanda@yahoo.com. Her friend Dolly will be 65 in December....I'm helping to locate Wanda as a birthday gift for Dolly. Wanda should be in her 60s.
Thank you.
Caulder's

I'm curremtly doing research on the Caulder Family. This is how I'm related to this family.

Elizabeth Hall (GGGGrandmother)
Peter Caulder (GGGGrandmother)
Moses Caulder (GGGrandfather)
Mary Nelson (GGGrandmother)
Amanda Caulder Morely (GGrandmother)
Barton Amos Rheuark GGrandfather)
Mary Phylis Rheuark (Grandmother)

I have been hesitated to add Peter Caulder and Elizabeth Hall to my genealogy as being the parent of Moses Caulder. The reason for this: When I look at the 1850 Census in Marion, Ark. Moses name is Thompson. The other reason is that this family is Malutto. If I do have Black Heritage in my family, it was never mentioned to me. Does anyone have documentation to support this connection. Thanks in advance.
