You are invited to the Cain Family Reunion which will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Callaway Park, Elwood, Indiana. We will be at table #2 in the southwest corner of the park. Our pot luck lunch usually starts around 1:00 PM.

Bring your family, a dish to pass, table service, drinks, chairs, fun outdoor games, photos, your camera, smiles, and memories. For photographs and family history materials, please make a copy and bring the copy instead of the original.

If you have an easel and/or board to post pictures, letters, and other family history materials, feel free to bring it along with what you want to post. We welcome you to bring copies of recent and old family photographs to post.

Among the surnames connected to our CAIN family that may be attending are: Ellis, French, Barnett, Piatt (in fact, our reunion used to be called the Cain-Piatt Family Reunion many years ago), Wright, Murphy, Haney, Day, Evans, and many more!

All of our CAIN family branches are descended from Watson Cain who was born 199 years ago in Coshocton County, Ohio.

Turn east on 35/22 a short distance and watch for a sign to Jonesboro and a
Church there. (This is 6th St.) Follow 6th St. to Corder St. and turn right to the
community building.

Dinner: 12:30 pm. Bring a covered dish, table service, lawn chairs.
Short meeting to follow dinner. A group photo will be taken. We will have genealogy,
old photos, correspondence to share. If you are unable to attend, please send us a
letter to share, copies of any photos, old obituaries. We will place them in the Minute
Book for the Reunion. We will return original photos to you after making copies.

There is a park and playground down the hill for kids. Hope to see you

MYERS reunion

MYERS reunion; A reunion is being planned for the descendants of Henry Myers, an early settler of Bath County. Henry had five known sons, Lewis, Christopher, Joseph, Samuel and Henry. Christopher and Joseph raised large families in the Bath/Rowan County area. Henry died in 1842, at the home of his son Lewis, in Cross Plains, Ripley County, IN, where he had moved in the 1830's. Any Myers researcher is invited to attend, as recent developments (DNA)indicate a tie to Myers families in Montgomery and Fleming Counties, and likely beyond. ALFREY descendants are closely allied, as many also went to IN; Christopher and Joseph were married to Elizabeth and Rachel ALFREY.

Restoration work, and dedication of a monument, at the Lewis Myers Cemetery near Cross Plains, IN is planned to coincide with the reunion. Monument will list those interred at the cemetery, predominantly MYERS and ALFREY.

TheAntonides Family Reunion will be held at the Lima-Brighton Elementary School, Howe, IN, on Sunday, August 14, 2005. The Reunion's theme is a celebration of the arrival of the family's founder in America three centuries ago. The traditional potluck dinner will be served at 12 noon, Indiana time.

The Rev. Vincentius Antonides came to America from the Netherlands in 1705, to pastor the Dutch Reformed Church on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. His descendants helped establish the United States at Valley Forge, and defended the nation in combat from the War of 1812 to Bastagone. They developed farms and businesses, established a mail route through the wilderness, and surveyed Miamisburg, OH. Family members maintain these traditions of achievement and service to America.

All direct and collateral members of the Antonides family are cordially invited to join in this memorial to the Rev. Vincentius Antonides at the Antonides Family Reunion, August 14, 2005. The Lima Brighton Elementary School is on the north side of Howe, IN, at Market and 4th Streets.

I am hunting for info from anyone who knows about the VanArsdal reunion that used to be held in the Johnson County In area. I went once in my teens in the early '70's when it was held in Noblesville IN. My grandfather said that they'd probably keep having it until Isaac died. Problem is I have yet to find an Isaac in the genealogy. My great great grandfather was John Cornelious Van Arsdal m. Elizabeth Ann Scott and he is my brick wall. I have a notice in the mail there will be a Shafer Reunion September 24, 2000 at the Tulip Tree Shelter House in Brown Co. State Park, Indiana.
Now a mystry. Who are Charlie and Dode Shafer? These little men I mean little,lived in Brown County, Indiana, South Bethany. They never married, lived together in a run down shack no lights or running water. Only a well in front of their house on Rennie Seitz Rd. South Bethany,In. They could possibly be Charles F. 1871-1957 and Joseph W. 1873-1953. They both stood about 3ft.tall because of stunted growth when they were boys. Anyone know about these two? They are my Father's uncles.Need their parents names.

Descendants of the families connected to the early settlers coming up through the Cumberland Gap into KY and southern IN are holding a reunion in Wash. Co. IN near Salem at Delaney Park on June 22nd. The Fleenor/Fleener/Flener families, the Hattabaugh/Hattabough clan, and numerous inter-related family lines will hold a carry-in picnic at noon at Delaney Park located between Salem and Vallonia at noon on Saturday. A family heritage display of genealogy information and research files, old photos and family memorabilia will be open on Friday and Saturday. Friday will be a research and tour day for those interested in cemeteries, the historical center, etc. A white elephant auction will be held after the picnic that includes quilts, antiques and hand crafted items.
