Jordans Across America To Meet
“Getting to know you” is the theme of the 6th National Reunion of Jordans to gather in Portland, Maine, July 7th thru 11th 2004. Some 250 members of The Reverend Robert and Sarah (Winter) Jordan, aka, The Family Jordan, will be doing just that as they travel from many parts of America to Maine where their roots in the New World where originally planted. The primary goals are to explore, discuss, and expand knowledge of family lineage which has been traced to early England.
A busy agenda is planned for the 4-day gathering that will include educational forums, DNA tracking, regional meetings, board meetings, elections, and establishment of a Board of Trustees for a newly formed Scholarship Foundation. Time has also been reserved for socials, a Maine Casco Bay Cruise, a Seashore trolley Museum visit in Kennebunkport, a lobster bake at Fort Williams, and an auction of craft items made and donated by family members. The Saturday evening banquet will feature a presentation on the Past, Present and Future of The Family Jordan. Adjournment will come on Sunday after a special family church service.
Founded in 1989, The Family Jordan, has in excess of 400 family members in 42 states, Canada, and England. The Reverend Robert Jordan, an Anglican Minister of the Church of England is the one progenitor from which these Jordan families trace their line. He arrived in Maine from Worcester, England around 1639 and settled at what is now known as Richmond Island, in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. History shows The Reverend Jordan played a key role in the early development of this area of Maine.

The Family Jordan is one of the more active family genealogy groups in America today. For information and reservations contact, Norman R.
