Braswell Reunion location, Lenoir, NC, Sep 20, 2008

Annual Braswell reunion will be held the 3rd Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Hard and Flossie Clark park. Bring your favorite dish or take-out. Plates, cups, napkins and plastic ware provided. Serving utensils are not provided. Directions from Lenoir, go up 90 to Collettsville, go left on Adako Road. Park is on left past John's River.
Descendents of Rev. Robert Braswell,1611-1688,Isle of Wight,VA. We are descended from his son, Richard. His sons; Robert, our ancestor, brothers Valentine and William settled in NC in the early 1700's. We are descended from Robert's son, Richard and Richard's youngest son, William.
This William (Barjonah), a hero in the War of Independence, is listed under the wrong Richard on the Braswell webpage (as descended from Rev. Robert's son, Robert, the VA line). All the Roberts, Richards and Williams confused the early researchers. One of the cousins is in her eighties and has been researching the family since her twenties, started out the old fashioned way-court houses and cementaries. We invite any cousins descended from the earlier ancestors to join us. We had several new ones last year from several different states.

If any of the White family knows of this connection please advise. My Christian Matheson White Married John White sometime after 1800. She was born approximately 1780 in what is now Alexander County. Her father was Alexander Matheson (immigrant from Fodderly Scotland) mother was Mary Miller Matheson. I know she was in Clay Co., NC, probably close to Hayesville, NC according to census and there was another White next house over and she had an adult child living with her.

I just got information about the annual Hinson family reunion. This year the family will gather at 12:30 pm on Sunday, June 8, 2008 in the Fellowship Hall at Anderson Grove Baptist Church located at 2225 E Main St, Albemarle, NC (after church services have finished). This is a potluck dinner - bring anything you like.

Here is a link to Google Maps so you can figure out how to get there:
http://maps.google.com/maps?rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox...

If you have any questions or you think I have left out some important information, please post them here and I will try to answer them.
Alexander Carrell's Family

Alexander and Lucy Carrell's children listed in Alexander's will written in February 1827 and recorded in Sampson County, NC were: Hardy Carrell, Reason Carrell, Wylie Carrell, Mary Ann Tedder, Betsy Ann Royall, Phanney Bridges, and Rebekah Carrell. There is no record of the will's probation after Alexander's death.

I don't know anything yet about any of Alexander and Lucy's children except for Hardy, who made his home in Stokes County, NC. I would like to find them someday. I don't believe any of the names you mention show up in Hardy's family later except for generic John and William.

A Demcy Carrel signed Alexander's marriage bond in 1783 in Duplin County, NC. There were two Dempsey Carrells in Sampson County in 1790. One Dempsey Carrell applied in Wilcox County, AL for a pension based on his Revolutionary War service in Duplin County, NC. (Part of Duplin became Sampson) So I know some of the Carrells from that area did go to Alabama.
