This is a reunion for both sides of my family. I am Sandra Ann Reeves Caldwell. My mother is Rosamond Allen Reeves, the daughter of Pearl Magnola Graham Allen Hilton and Thomas Houston Allen. My father is Chet Leman Reeves Jr, the son of Thelma Davis and Chet Leman Reeves Sr. Everyone is welcome, we will be swimming, fishing and horseback riding on Saturday and church and a softball game on Sunday. I am interested in knowing more of my Gammage ancestors. I understand there is a book entitled "The Amazing Story of the Gammages in America" is it still available? Also I understand that Lamar Gammage "bill" Vawter put together a book on the Gammages. I would welcome any information. I also read that some books only list sons and not daughters. Is that because daughters don't carry the family name? My ancestor is Catherine Gammage, who was married in 1806 to Edward Thomas.

2012 Calmes Family Reunion - GSOV in Dallas/Ft. Worth Area

The Genealogical Society of Versailles will host the 2012 Calmes Family Association Reunion in Irving Texas starting on Thursday, June 7 at 3:00pm and ending Sunday June 10 at 1:00pm

Headquarters for our function will be the Marriott Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport, which is located at 8440 Freeport Parkway, Irving, Texas 75063.

Friday Activities include riding the Grapevine VIntage Railroad to Ft. Worth Stockyard noon - 5pm, or touring Fort Worth Botanical Garden and/or Zoo, Kimbell (or other) Art Museum(s), "Group" Lunch @ Joe T. Garcia's, and ending at Ft. Worth Stockyards & 4:00 pm Cattle Drive.

Saturday Meeting, auction, and lunch, then other activities or visiting with Calmes cousins. We hope to have a hospitality room available Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. May have a presentation about last Summer's trip to the "Calmes Castle" in France by members of our group.

Letter to the membership were sent out at the end of March.

2012 ALPHONSO P. STEELE FAMILY REUNION

As we all know, we voted to move Alphonso P. Steele Reunion from the first Saturday of October to the last Saturday of April. This year the date is on April 28, 2012. The reunion is still at the same place. The following, information for the reunion:

Date: April 28, 2012

Place: Confederate Reunion Grounds, Joe Johnston Camp No. 94, Mexia, Limestone County, Texas.

Time: Gates open at 8:00AM, close at 5:00PM.

Park Admission: Adults: $4.00 Children 6-18: $3.00 Under 6: FREE.

Lunch: Pot luck (bring enough meat for your family) and a side dish to share. Lunch will be at noon, 12:00.

We have received the medallions for Alphonso and Mary Ann. Mary Ann's reads CITIZEN OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS, 1836 TO 1846. Alphonso reads VETERAN OF THE REPUBLIC OF TEXAS. These medallions will be put on their headstone before the reunion. A ceremony will be perform after lunch at their graveside and anyone can have their picture taken at their headstone.

We would like to thank Jack and Julia Mayo, Julia's hard work and Jack's speed typing, for assembling a display of information and pictures of the Steele family that served our country (descendants of Alphonso). These family members will be honored by prayer and remembrance.

I'll do what I can to keep you informed. I never knew of the reunions until recently. I hope I hear of the next one if there is one. I believe the reunions have been 3 years or so a part. Bobby Gaines and Barbara Stubbs now have my e-mail address and home address, so I should receive notice if there is another reunion. I was first at the M. P. Gaines farm 42 years ago. I was able to visit there 4 or 5 times while I was stationed in Texas.

Thanks for the information. We could try to come with my parents, Leo P. & Ester Gaines. Please keep me on the list for the next reunion. My parents went to Daddys Webb family reunion in Oklahoma this year. Daddy carved his name on the fireplace on the home place when we went there years ago. As to whether there will be another reunion is unknown at this time. Just prior to this reunion Bobby Gaines indicated this would be the last one, but I understand that he was considering another reunion prior to the completion of this reunion.

In your information on Campos was there a mention of the name "Teofilo Campos", I hope I have the name spelled correct. I have some pictures that belong to my Grandmother Josefa that I found in a box after she passed away in 1954. I believe T Campos would have been connected to Tom Green County and that area in Texas and maybe Oklahoma as well.

The Payne's and Oliphant's came to Texas circa 1835/36 and settled in Sabine County. A.D.(Alfred Davenport) Oliphant and John M. Payne were both pioneers in settling this area of East Texas. A.D. and John's children(Mahala Oliphant and John Payne, Jr) married in 1844 and settled in Walker Cty, TX(Huntsville). I am a direct descendant of John and Mahala.

Plan on spending Friday and Saturday night at the lodge, as there are sleeping quarters for 75 people. The bedding and bath linens are provided. Absolutely No Pets or Alcohol allowed on the lodge grounds, or at the reunion.

We are planning to have a great get-together, with all of the Sisters, Brothers, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and all in between. There will be lots of food, fun, and other activities as well as the BIG AUCTION.

Please bring an auction item or two and your favorite dessert as there will be cold cuts provided on Friday, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning with lunch provided on noon Saturday.

For those of you that have ice cream freezers, please bring them as we will be making home made ice cream for Saturday afternoon enjoyment. Bring your favorite games for the young at heart, and outdoor toys and games for the kids.

Family, as well as generation pictures, will be taken on Saturday morning before lunch. So please plan on being there between 9 am to noon for the picture taking.

Schedule of events: Friday, 19 June
12 noon - Lodge opens for reunion
Sandwich fixings provided throughout the day.

Saturday, 20 June
7 am - Breakfast served at the Lodge
Eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits & gravy, cereal, milk, coffee and assorted juices

9 to 11 am - Individual, family, and group pictures will be taken.

12 noon - Lunch served in the Lodge.
Barbequed brisket, pork, chicken, and sausage, beans, assorted salads, fruit & vegetable trays, bread, milk, tea and sodas. Bring your favorite dish and a dessert.

1 pm - Business meeting and auction.

2 pm - Ice cream Social and games.

5 pm to whenever - Dinner and social time. Lunch leftovers as long as they last.

Sunday, 21 June
7 am - Breakfast served in the lodge.
Eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits & gravy, cereal, milk, coffee and assorted juices.

9 am to noon - Lodge clean-up.

12 noon - Must be out of the Lodge.

Her name was or is Maria Consuelo Adame, she had three children here in El Paso, Tx. and about three more in chihuahu. Manuel was bauried there in 1991. Robert, my husbands brother is called Todie for a nick name. Bless you and your family and I will get back as soon as I get the links checked out!

I recieved notification of your query, I am not sure if we are related but some of the names you listed sound familer. My fathers name is Rickey Aguero, his fathers name was Juan Gabriel Aguero and my grandmother was Consuelo Abundis Aguero. He had brothers named Francisco (AKA pancho) Aguero, Antonio (AKA Tony) Manuel Aguero, Isauro Aguero, Juan(AKA big john) Aguero, a half brother Paul Orona, sisters Lugarda (AKA Bea) Aguero Lozano, Basilia (AKA Basie) Aguero Ayalla, Rosa Aguero Delacruz. My father has mentioned a Teofilo and that we have Rodriquez in our family, I believe Moreno as well. I will ask him about these names you have stated in your query.There are some pictures of the deceased family members on the Find a Grave website, WWW.Findagrave.com, You can type in my grandfathers name or any of the one's I mentioned and they have a picture if any of them are familar let me know in the mean time I will ask my father about your family.
