Melissa,
IF John Hoar's wife Alice was Alice Lisle that is your "gateway." But there is substantial doubt over whether she was in fact a Lisle. If she was, as commonly recorded, a daughter of Lord John Lisle the regicide, then her ancestry goes back to Elizabeth Bessiles m Rchard Fettiplace:
Elizabeth Bessiles m Richard Fettiplace
John m Dorothy Danvers
Bridget m John Hungerford
Anthony m Bridget Shelley
John m Mary Berkeley
Bridget m William Lisle
John (the regicide) m Alice Beckonshaw
Alice [???} m John Hoar
Elizabeth Bessiles is descended from King John Lackland:
John by mistress, probably a dau of Hamelin (bastard son of
Geoffrey of Anjou, consort of Maud dau. Henry II) had
Richard FitzRoy; thence
Laurette of Dover m William Marmion
John Marmion
John Marmion Jr.
Avice Marmion m John de Grey K.G.
Maude de Grey m 2d Thomas de Harcourt d 12 April 1417
Thomas
Richard
Alice m William Bessiles
ELIZABETH BESSILES
There is another line down from Henry II, to John de Grey K.G rather than to his wife Avice Marmion:
Henry II
William Longespee
William II Longespee
Ida m Walter FitzRobert
Ela FitzR. m William Odyngsells, II
Margaret m John de Grey
JOHN de Grey K.G.
I would like to find reliable proof that the Alice who married John Hoar/Hoare of Concord Mass. was a daughter of the regicide, but have not yet found it. One researcher asserts that the attribution is mistaken, but gives no authority. See
