Thank you so much for all of your research. I had found the manifest before and I do apologize, I should have mentioned that.
Unfortunately, the problem with him, according to my father, was that he lied about his birthplace when he came here because he did not want his father being able to find him. He was actually not Sicilian, but from Northern Italy and that's where things get murky. He had red hair and blue eyes and his mother was supposedly German, but she was supposedly a maid and died when he was a baby so we know nothing of her. As I said, he died in the early to mid 50s, so I never had the chance to meet him and even my grandmother never said anything about his past. My father says he distinctly remembers watching the Italian news with his family when he was very small and an Italian Count or Duke coming on and begging for his only son to come home. He says he then remembers his father becoming angry, getting up and turning the tv off. The noble died a short time after and my grandfather died about a year later, so you can see why its complicated.
Again, I really do appreciate you taking the time to research all of that information. It's just a crazy thing!
