Hi Patricia, I think we are indeed 4th cousins (based in France but heading home to NZ soon). I have some info and some interesting documents that came from my grandmother Vera Story (Robert's daughter). I did receive some info about Mary QoS on this thread but never managed to trace back. This said I did find a connection back to Edward IV (Robert's father's mother's father's father's father's father's father's father's father's father's father's sister was married to Edward IV in the late 1400s (he was the grandfather of Henry VIII)...this is known as the River's connection. I can share some of the doc's including Vera's memoires where she does mention Oswald briefly: After their daughter was born Florence Emily became very ill, and eventually died of cancer of the breast. Robert resigned his commission on account of his ill-health. For some time he rather drifted with nothing special to do. Then he had a chance to EO to New Zealand with his naval brother Oswald who was in command of H.M.S. Opal. Oswald married Miss Olave Baldwin, granddaughter of Hon. Andrew Buchanan, the Doctor who built Chingford of which now only the stone stables remain, and the grounds are a Public Park. Can you mail me at if you are interested. Regards Nicola
