If your grandfather Alex Nisuk was from Kiev, it is now the capital of Ukraine. His first name was, surely, not Alex, but Alexander or Alexey. His last name was the same, it sounds Ukrainian, Nizuk, or, may be , Niziuk. The reasons for a man of 24-year-old to leave Russia in 1907 could be political. He might have been involved with socialist party, members of which at that time were persecuted by tzar's regime.
