Thanks for taking time from your holiday; this is our Columbus Day 3 day weekend. My information is sparse and purely anecdotal. My great grandmother, Caroline Malloy, apparently would say that she was named for CMH, first Lady,etc. when asked where the name came from. I do not know why it was considered unusual, but it certainly was valued since at least 4 or 5 of us still carry the name today. In any event, g.m. Malloy was born around 1845-47 in Queenstown, Ire. Miskell seems to be a name associated with Cork county. My hunch is that someone in her family was in service to the Miskell Hoyts. I haven't been able to come up with anything seemingly related from my internet searches for the name Miskell or Hoyt in Ireland or England. (The Malloys also lived in Sheffield, Eng.).
