Classification: Query
When searching the RW boards for findagrave, there are some 4626 entries.
I went to the findagrave web site.
Q. How much does it cost to use Find-A-Grave?
A. Nothing. We do not charge anything for any of our services. You can become a member, submit data, add flowers, add photos and search our database at no charge.
If one looks hard, one can find findagrave mugs and tshirts and donate to website upkeep. I don't see anything about the site that would cause me to delete such messages from my boards. When I searched for some family names, I note there were links at the top of the pages to "Find Your Ancestors" at Ancestry.com. In fact, the findagrave link was among those provided in one of George Morgan's (an Ancestry columnist) "Along Those Lines" articles.

This seems to be the board post which was gatewayed to which Orlena refers:

No links other than to findagrave.
So, the messages could have been deleted in two ways.
First, the Kansas Cemeteries board admin, Kathie might have done it, though there are other findagrave board posts on the Kansas Cemeteries board. You can find her email by clicking on the Board Information link when you are on the board.
Second, it might have been done my message board staff. You probably won't get an answer if you try to contact them. Could be that some uninformed soul thought it was a purely commercial site and reported abuse which caused the post to be deleted without further investigation. That could be the reason findagrave posts were deleted from other boards.
If nothing else, I'm glad you asked the question. It had been a while since I looked at that web site and found some new interesting grave information about some of my relatives. And at no cost! Think I'll join and add more. Thank you.
Nancy
