True. But when surnames in my posts can number from 50 to 850, I'm not going to enter all these names into a surname box. And that doesn't solve the problem of searching for non-surname terms, such as "enrollment list" or "Rutland Herald" or first names that become scrunched together with other terms. If you are searching "SMITH", for example, you are very likely to be searching a first name with it.
I can experiment with whether .txt lists prevent the problem or I caN simply add more punctuation to my posts. However, you have a huge database of information that has already been posted by a lot of people like me - and you should care that a lot of it is unsearchable.
The mailing list search engine, by the way, is much better than the message board search engine. One would think it would be simple to use a similar search engine for the message boards.
