The secret is to NOT put a whole tree online at one time.
1). Do a gedcom of one person- no parents or wife or children. No info other than the name.
2). Make a paragraph giving the info on parents, children, dates, etc. and put your sources for each event in parentheses right after each event with your name and a "date entere=dd-mmm-yyyy" format
3) export that gedcom using ONLY the Note paragraph.
So you get something like:
John Doe
John Doe was born 2 May 1857 (Source: Hennings, Ralph; "Tennessee Birth Record Extracts" 1936 pg 4[date entered: 2 Oct 2006 by AGHatchett3rd]). He married Sally Unknown on 21 March 1870 (Source: Woodrow, Wilson, "Tennessee Marriages of the 1870's" pg 232[date entered 3 Oct 2006 by Mary Hatchett]) blah blah blah, etc.
Use this gedcom to place info for this one person online.
This will foil those seeking to grab your infor unless they want to do a LOT of cutting and pasting and search/replacing as there are no links to other persons to click on; and the REAL genealodists and family historians will bless you because you have included full sources.
