SS Celtic - White Star line

Classification: Query
Surnames: Ismay smee wood roxburgh
I am a little confused, I have been tracing some family members, one of whom travelled to the US and arrived in Boston 27 March 1926 on board the SS Celtic. She was in a party headed by Matilda Ismay.
Eventually I realised why the name Ismay was familiar -- J Bruce Ismay was the owner of the White Star line (of Titanic fame).

Sure enough SS Celtic was a White Star ship on the Atlantic run. Suddenly I dropped into the the SPOOKY zone as the SS Celtic is reported as having run aground off Queenstown Ireland in 1925 and was dismantled and scrapped......

Surely they would not have hauled a hulk back to New York with members of the owner's family on board?

Any Ideas?
