I previously had similar problems on my iPhone and was told the same thing - that Safari was not supported. I continued to use it on my iPhone anyhow, logging in over and over again. Now suddenly everything is working properly and I'm not sure why. To fix some other problem support told me to delete my mobile tree and reload it. I don't know of this fixed the login problem or if Ancestry finally found the problem on their side.
