FTM 2012 - Main Toolbar "Sources"

Classification: Query
From the Main Toolbar > Sources, in the left hand pane, "Source Groups:" I have 282.
Many of these are repeats.
It's my understanding that this is a listing of all the sources; so if I have any fact/information that comes from say the 1940 US Census I should see in my "Source Groups:" 1940 United States Federal Census, but only once.
If I've got more than one person/fact/any information that comes from the 1940 United States Federal Census source, it would show up in the middle window in the "Source citations: " where even more information specific to that particular person/fact/information is given (like line number, page number, date accessed and from where, etc). The details for that particular highlighted Source citation shows up in the right-hand pane, Source Citation Information.

I'm wondering if the repeated sources in the Source Groups: is supposed to happen or if I could merge the redundant sources?

Thank you in advance.
