A fact in my tree may be linked to many different sources. For example, a birth date may be evidenced by a birth certificate, BMD indices, death certificate, census return, obituary etc. When I generate a report therefore I can end up with a whole string of footnote numbers after every single fact, and page after page of citations. It's thorough, but a little overblown. I don't want to lose the references, but is there a way to limit which are used by the reports, so only the most pertinent is shown? For a birth date, for example, it would be sufficient just to cite the official certificate in my report - I don't need to include less direct sources. Does anyone know of a way of achieving this?
