In addition to bef, abt and aft, you can also enter "approved" text strings directly into the date field. Please forgive what appears to be the items listed twice. The second entry is a second column in the Help file offering an explanation and sometimes the explanation is just a repeat of the text string.

Note - You can also enter a Death Place in the Place field, without a date, and that will cause the person to be shown as dead at File > Privatize. I'm guessing that will work in most reports, as well. I put USA in the Death Place field for people born before 100 years from today that the File > Privatize doesn't recognize as dead (for example, all 100-120 years old).

Certain keywords can be used in the Date field to help define the date. For example, you may be uncertain about the birth date of a person but know it falls somewhere in the year "1900". In the Date field you can express that by typing "Bet. 1900-1901".
