Now, finally someone from a google help board gave me a good reason why I am having so many problems with the software I want to use. What should I do about this? I don't want to have to purchase a new OS. I am sending a copy of this to HP in the event there is nothing I can do as far as a Microsoft download.
"If you are running Vista 64 then be prepared..
a LOT of older programes-including drivers of almost all types- have
16 bit sub routine codes that simply will NOT work with Vista. End of
Story.
Unless you have a *very* specific need for the 64 bit version you'll
be *MUCH* happier with the 32 bit version-which *will* handle 16 it
coding."

Dear Sue,
Thank you for your time and patience.
From our previous troubleshooting, I realized that you encountered some compatible issues in Windows Vista with other third party programs.
We are striving to capture any and all product issues/product feedback so as to ensure that we are continuously developing Microsoft products to meet our customers' needs. This is exactly why feedback such as yours is always valued.
Recently our product group developed Windows Vista Compatibility Center:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/
Most of the software, hardware which is compatible with Windows Vista can be found there. Hopefully it is useful to you.
Currently, is there any other technical assistance I can provide to you?
It's my pleasure to be of assistance.
