FIXED!!!!
I took the software back to where I bought it and got my $99.95 back. Then I downloaded Legacy 7.0 for only $30.00 from their website http://www.legacyfamilytreestore.com/
and happily saw that it was only 47Mb instead of 370Mb that FTM was.
I installed it (1st attempt) and although it may not look as polished as FTM it does everything that FTM did and more. It has Virtual Earth, charting and the amount of information that you can edit is amazing.
Upshot is that Legacy is working perfectly, 1st go and is stable. I have not had to compromise my internet security by switching off firewalls and Anti virus programs.
Why couldn't FTM have done this?
