Have you tried deleting all the ancestry.com related cookies? A side effect will be that all your defaults on the site will be reset but it might clear this up.

Are you running on Windows XP or Vista? I ask because clearing specific cookies is easier on WinXP but it can be done on Vista too.

I'm running on windows XP, I've cleared the cookies and it's had some effect but I'm still getting problems registering the program. It seems to go online now, but wont register, I',m wondering if the website is taking too long to respond to some requests and that is the reason these errors appear ? maybe the program should output more useful error messages ?

What is the specific error message?

I click tools, register program and I get a screen with the message "There was a problem connecting to the registration server. Please check your internet connection and try again or close this dialog and register later. There are two links, TRY AGAIN and CLOSE AND REGISTER LATER. Try again just gives the same screen.

At the same time, if i go to ancestry.co.uk, i get every screen and can run searches, but if i try and login i get an error "The program cannot display the webpage". Maybe its the server that is having problems ?

The odd thing is, I can reply to this post and the top of the screen shows i'm logged into ancestry as it shows my username, I'm using a tabbed browser and if i load ancestry on another tab it shows i'm not logged in. ?? wierd or what ??

I'm sorry if I missed it, but did you check your system time? Does your machine synchronize with the Internet time server correctly?
