Then if/when ancestry decide to stop their service, then you loose ALL your data. Over the years, many online services that hold your data have closed down. Then where are you?

I would also guess than when my paid subscription ends, I would naturally loose access to my data. These days too many companies employ poor staff that make errors (look at FTM!!!), so by error your subscription could be terminated.

Keep your master data record on your computer and keep multiple backups on extra disks.
