Transfer of the old file should be relatively easy. Save a copy onto your hard drive after installing the new program. Make sure you keep an intact copy of your original file in case things go wrong.

If you are concerned about the transfer I can check your file for issues if you'd like. I've converted other's files when they were on floppy disks, etc..
