I was using Family Tree Maker 2006 on a 2006 laptop, probably 16-bit. The hard drive crashed, and I replaced it. I have Carbonite and restored my Family Tree database without too much trouble. A month or so ago, the monitor died, I bought a new laptop and restored most of my files without a problem. I loaded the 2006 Family Tree software from the disk, and tried to figure out how to get it to open with the data. It just won't work. I deleted the restored file and tried again. Then I ordered the 2012 version of Family Tree, spent hours downloading the softwqare, and tried to open my restored database prepared with the earlier version of Family Tree. Nothing is working and I don't know what else to try. I have the data, it won't open in either the 2006 or 2012 Family Tree. I'm going to delete the 2012 Family Tree because I did get error messages that something was wrong. My download wizard said there was known conflicts. Does anybody have any idea of what I can do. This is a huge database (to me) and I've worked on it for many years.
