Amen! I am so glad to hear someone else admit it! None can come close to offering what the 2006 version 16 offers. They would have been much better off had they simply upgraded the versions along with the newer computer systems and left well enough along. Don't fix what isn't broken! Particularly that which worked better before you fixed it.
I put good money into the 2008 Family Tree Maker and not a dime, since, I was so disappointed with it. And I updated regularly before then. I had also invested a lot in the FTM archive disks that can't be used on the new version. I think part of their goal was to prevent users from accessing these archive disks, so they would use the online search services. Don't get me wrong, I like ancestry.com for research, and I have maintained membership for years, but they have a lot less to offer in their recording program, in my opinion! I wish they had left the Family Tree Maker program as it was, though. I don't need the program to do my research for me. I can do that better on my own, with much less inaccuracies. They should just focus on the materials they offer (images of original documents, as the indexes are frequently misinforming.)
