"Over the course of building my tree I have deleted people and relationships that have resulted in many people not being "connected" in my tree. I was looking for a "find orphaned people" type of function in Family Tree Maker and the online Ancestry.com software but don't see anything that would facilitate that."

There is a program called GENViewer by MudCreek software that wil show the number of "Islands" of people you have in your data base and that will show the people that are in each Island.

I think this program would be helpful in doing what you are trying to do

I use it to help me ensure that my data base has only one Island and if I ever[through deleting/merging/etc people] inadvertetly have two or more Islands I can use it to help get back to one Island

It also has many other features that are quite helpful

Look it up via your browser and see if it could be hepful to you

PS OOPS, I SEE SILVER FOX BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH ON GENVIEWER ---TRY IT YOU WILL LIKE IT FOR MANY THINGS OTHER THAN WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO RESOLVE HERE
