Bare in mind you are attempting to run a program in an OS that it was not designed to run in. We have discussed the PDF issue, but be careful. Have lots of back up etc
I also suggest that you go to the past FTM knowlege base at http://pastftm.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/pastftm.cfg/php/enduser/...
and very carefully (repeat very carefully) read article 2777.
In particular note
These versions of Family Tree Maker are not designed to work on Vista or Windows 7 64-bit. Although you may find success using Family Tree Maker on a 64-bit operating system, we cannot offer any support for problems you may encounter in this environment. This article and patch will only work for Vista or Windows 7 32 bit. Below is a link with instructions on how to find which version you are running.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218
Personally I would use FTM 2012 which works very well in W7 64 bit and is way ahead of FTM 2006, which is now 6 years old. Personal opinion of course
The only reason that I can suggest that you lost you photos when going from version 2006 to version 2010 is that you may have used GEDCOM for the process.
FTM 2008+ will read any .FTW file created by FTM 5 and above through to version 16 without a problem including transferring media.
