Yes, this worked. I had a backup from my CrashPlan online backup service that saved the day. Restored AppData\Local\Ancestry and AppData\Roaming\Family Tree Maker and all was well with AFT and FTM syncing. A good backup routine on the part of FTM would automatically save these files and then restore them to their proper location when a restore operation was performed by the user. There is really no excuse for such poor software development and planning on the part of a company as large as ancestry.com, IMHO!
