Okay, so I'm glad that I'm wrong about not being able to retain my preferred fact, but it still doesn't change my argument that the default option should not be to merge and discard. It's a bad practice and should not be encouraged.

There's also the gripe about 1832 instead of abt 1832 or cal. 1832.

There's also the gripe about having to do data cleanup because the Web Merge Wizard is only aware of the preferred fact.
