Mary, thank you for this explanation. I went so far as to purchase a new computer to try to address the slow performance issues and crashes with FTM2012. It crashes on the new computer and with every single action I do in the program, I get "Not Responding" for anywhere from 15 seconds to 2 minutes waiting for FTM2012 to finish a task. I have Win7, 16gb RAM, quad-core processor, and HardDrive with only 15% used.
I have sent at least 10 tech support requests to FTM and Ancestry.com and the ONLY response I have received from them over the past 3 months is a survey request asking me what I thought of the customer service.
I am not a programmer, so many times the explanations of some posts from programmers goes way over my head. Your response was helpful in understanding the rout of the problem. Any suggestions on an alternate genealogy software application?
