Thank you all for your ideas and assistance. Unfortunately, none of these suggestions have proven to be successful yet.

). This was not successful either.
It is very strange that even exhaustive measures to remove the software and then re-installing has not resolved the issue. As previously indicated, I expect the much more drastic solution of reformatting my laptop will be required at this point.
