Serenity 2001 – comment on archived web pages
No I have not tried this and I will look into it, but a question
Is the archived Web Page static or dynamic?
By static I mean when you go back to look at the HTML file with the “.mht” extension does it have the exact same information on it that it had when you created it? I think the answer to this is yes
My intention was to use the Web Link for People only in special cases and those cases would be those where there was a possibility that the “page” had changed from what it was when I previously looked at it, that is, the page was “dynamic”
Wikipedia Biographies are a good example of this. They are continually being updated and new information added and some old information deleted or changed. By using the Web Link I can go back to the “linked page/biography” and review it and if anything had been changed since the last time I looked at it I can then update my data base
In all the other cases, where the “page is static” I use the FTM 2012 process of downloading the page, creating an “Image/Exhibit”, creating a Source, creating source attributes and if desired storing the image/exhibit in the FTM 2012 Media file, and then running media usage reports
It sounds like the “Archived Web Page” concept is very close in concept to what I described in the above last paragraph
