If the import fails at 9094, edit person 9095 (the next person id as person 9094 was imported.) If the import failed at an image, checkout the next one in sequence (this might be difficult to do as I do not believe FTW keeps track of image id.)

This was the solution to the problem: person 9095 had odd extended characters in his name (at the end). What mucked things up, exporting as a GEDCOM imported without issue into 2012 (the name error was fixed in the GEDCOM export).
