If you open a link from within the FTM browser it opens in the FTM and will be in the brain dead IE.

If you open a new browser by right clicking on an item in the FTM window ie a tree you are reviewing, it will open in the most current version of IE on your computer.

You can only get the better browser by opening the new window from the Browser Options at the icon in the upper left of the search results window.
