One point of caution - although the media does sync, and may be sync-ing in the background, as John mentioned, FTM does not automatically make a photo the "primary" as designated in your online tree.

Try looking at the person profile in FTM, to see if the photo is there. You can then make it primary in FTM by right-clicking on the silhouette for that person.
