I've been using ancestry for years and am very happy. I use Legacy as my tree maker. I have to download a GEDCOM file from Ancestry and import it into Legacy. I loose a lot in the conversion process. I've seen some mixed reviews regarding Family Tree Maker.

Is there a trial offer or period I can use to evaluate Family Tree Maker. I'm a little hesitant to purchase software without trying it first, over the years I've bought a lot of software that doesn't do what I want it to do. I'm a Disabled Vietnam Veteran living on a fixed income, and I need to use my disposable income wisely.
