Alan,

FTM 2012 has issues with small trees (3,000 persons + media) and will crash due to out of memory issues. This has been a problem since version 2008 (2012 is the 5th version of the new FTM). I can make a 1 person tree and create a "smart" story and the program will run out of memory.

It is interesting to note that version 16 (2006) could handle data files much larger (up to 2GB with images). 2GB was the file size limit for the program and OS at that time.

Some have complained to Ancestry regarding memory usage but no fixes have arrived yet.

I have two files that, with media are over 79GB of data, docs, images, etc. total. Data file sizes are 200MB each.

TMG, a FoxPro-based program can handle my files without issue but it is too bad that the program does not integrate with Ancestry.com. I'm still hoping that the memory issue will be made a priority and resolved in a new version.

Regards,
