While we are on the subject of names, how about one of my annual enhancement requests for an index name?
I believe Master Geneealogist uses an index name.
This would be a name field that would be chosen for your index (although "real" names could also be an option for the index as well).
Then all of the spelling variations of all of the various branches of a family could be entered with the same surname and seen in the index alphabetized by first name.
This would be a great time saver for trying to find a Samuel Peirce match in a tree where the members of that family may have their preferred name for their branch be Pierce or Peerce or whatever (even worse for Eastern European names).
Reports would NOT refer to the index name, but to the preferred name of each person.
To me, the aka name works just fine, but I really want an index name.
