As someone who was driven away from FTM by problems I occasionally pop back to see what is happening.
If you put aside the sync problems, the major problem with FTM and in particular the Mac version is general performance when you have a large file.
Jackie from what she says has a file size that is perhaps one tenth of that at which you might expect to start to have problems, and in general I would have expected her experience to be good.
Using Reunion 10 as a comparison, my file of some 118,000 individuals opens instantly, is only 20% of the size it is in FTMM1, uses only a fraction of the memory when it starts and doesn't after a short period grab virtually all the memory a 32bit program can.
If you want the features of FTM and have larger file, then you have to put up with the problems. I suspect the cost of solving them is a primary issue.
